AI Transparency

Effective as of October 15, 2026

See the previous version of this notice.

Napkin AI, a product of Second Layer, Inc., uses artificial intelligence to help users create and edit visual and document content. AI features may generate, transform or suggest text, layouts, visuals and other material based on user inputs.

AI-generated results can be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or unsuitable for a particular use. You remain responsible for reviewing results before relying on, sharing or publishing them.

Where Napkin AI provides machine-readable AI-origin information for a supported export, the information is designed to help software identify that the export contains AI-generated or AI-manipulated material. Detection depends on the file format, the mark applied and later handling of the file. An absent or unreadable mark does not establish that material was created by a human. Ordinary editing, conversion, re-rendering, screenshotting or other handling can affect some marking methods.

To report a concern about an AI feature, output transparency or potentially harmful use, contact [email protected]. Napkin AI reviews reports through its applicable security, privacy and corrective-action processes. Send only the information needed to understand the concern, and leave out personal, confidential or customer information unless it is needed to investigate.

Image generation

For some slide pictures and backgrounds, Napkin AI can use Z-Image-Turbo, an open-weight text-to-image model developed by Alibaba’s Tongyi-MAI team. Napkin AI runs this model on Google Cloud infrastructure that it operates. Other image services, including Google's Gemini, may handle other requests or be used as a fallback.

On the self-hosted Z-Image route, text instructions derived from your content are processed by Napkin AI's image service rather than submitted to the model developer's hosted inference service. See our Privacy Policy and sub-processor page for data handling and service-provider information.
